Proposal details
The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing has received an application from the Village of Burk’s Falls for approval of a new official plan, adopted by The Village of Burk’s Falls’ council by By-law № 40-2025 on November 25, 2025.
The new official plan, if approved, will replace the existing plan, which came into effect in 2011. The new plan will guide growth and physical (land use) change across the Village of Burk’s Falls for the next 20-year planning horizon, while incorporating provincial objectives and community-driven priorities.
The ministry will review the matter for consistency with the Provincial Planning Statement, 2024, conformity with the Growth Plan for Northern Ontario, 2011, and compliance with the Planning Act. All feedback received will be considered before presenting any potential modifications to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing for a decision in accordance with section 17 of the Planning Act.
As set out in subsections 17(36.5) and (38.1) of the Planning Act, the decision of the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing regarding an official plan adopted in accordance with section 17 is final and not subject to appeal.
