This proposal is for an amendment to the Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. A-500-3110216792 with Limited Operational Flexibility for Covia Canada Ltd., an industrial mineral mining and processing facility, located in the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen, Ontario.
The emission sources from the manufacturing and associated processes that discharge to the air include:
- dust collectors
- drying, crushing, conveying, screening, milling, classification, and shipping of processed nepheline syenite
- burners
- heaters
- diesel pumps
- gasoline pumps
- fugitive sources including mechanical building vents, tailings, stockpiles, and roads.
The amendment includes replacing one existing burner. Emissions to the air from this facility include:
- aluminum oxide
- calcium oxide
- ferric oxide
- magnesium oxide
- nitrogen oxides
- sulfur dioxide
- suspended particulate matter
The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air & noise), when issued, permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air & noise). The Limited Operational Flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
