Given how vague and open-ended the criteria for designation of the SEZs are, how do the current laws protect areas that will eventually be designated as SEZs under the Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025?
How are trusted proponents chosen? Is there a tender or request for proposal system? Can trusted proponents be removed from the list once they are on it? What standards must they maintain? Will they be audited and by what entity?
