Economic growth cannot come at the climate’s expense, yet this is what is happening. The criteria for Special Economic Zones are currently too vague, raising the risk that developments may bypass Ontario’s and Canada’s legal commitments to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. All projects must be clearly required to align with climate action and environmental stewardship.
Our provincial government is employed by the citizens of Ontario - this citizen wants transparency at all stages of policy development - not a 'father knows best' pat on the head.
