To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to express my significant concern about the proposals in Bill 5 would permit at the expense of environmental protection. The science is clear, we need to protect our environment to secure our livelihood and future wellbeing. I support economic development, but it must be done in a manner that limits carbon emissions, and damage to our environment. Recent history is full of examples of chosing to persue short-term gains at the expense of the environment and we are now paying the price for those choices. It will be more costly to clear up the mess later and the toll placed on human lives and suffering will outweigh any benefits that may be produced. I urge you to leave in place environmental protections that have been enacted for good reason - science has told us we need our environments and the species that live within them to survive. The delays to ensure we develop our economy sustainably are a small price to pay for avoiding the harms of further degradation of our planet.
