When will this government stop jeopardizing critical environmental protection for profit? If this is truly about economics, let us be honest. Economic policy has got to reflect environmental protection. The economy fluctuates, the environment and key components do not.

This government has a catastrophic policy record. Wasting taxpayers money to appease donors and reversing more policy than I have seen in my lifetime. Millions of dollars were wasted handing out money to corporations while small towns that were already struggling were ignored. These rural communities protect and utilize environmentally sensitive lands and do so knowing the long term impact. Knowing the trees, wildlife and waters we save today will sustain future generations. Local conservation authorities have always seen the bigger picture and need not be bulldozed by this government. How many of you live in a rural area or on environmental sensitive land like I do? Every tree, every part of the food chain is considered before building. My neighbour who is on elevated land wanted to cut down 75 year old trees and we are on a flood plain. Those trees keep my house from flooding. Bulldozing away protected zones from the CA, Municipalities and locals will have catastrophic consequences for not only our environment but for long established areas that reinvest in our land and allow for native trees, plants and wildlife flourishing, protecting critical water supply. We need less provincial interference and more local oversight. We are the people invested in the care of the land. The conservation authorities should have more authority than someone sitting in an office building not understanding the true consequences of clearing a path for builders.
