Overall, I do not support the creation of Special Economic Zones as they ignore health
and safety regulations, environmental protection laws and defy public trust. The Special
Economic Zone Act is focussed on economic benefits at the expense of the environment.
This is short-sighted planning. I ask for the repeal of the Special Economic Zone Act.

Before any development occurs Indigenous communities must be consulted. This
requirement must be included and clearly stated in the regulations.

Decisions around SEZ should not be made at the discretion or opinion of the Minister.
Decisions must be transparent and evidence-based.

The draft regulations are unclear. They should be re-written.
