Kawartha Conservation has been made aware of the proposed Southview Hydrovac Inc. development located on North Port Road in Port Perry. Based on Kawartha Conservation’s natural hazard regulation mapping, portions of the subject property are identified as containing regulated wetland and floodplain features that fall within Kawartha Conservation’s jurisdiction.

At this time, a detailed site plan has not been provided. As a result, it is not possible to fully assess the potential impacts of the proposed development on the identified natural hazard features. Kawartha Conservation has concerns regarding potential development activities within the wetland area of the property. In addition, it is recommended that any site plan clearly demonstrate that the stockpiling of processed soil will occur outside of the flood hazard area.

Development within regulated natural hazard areas, including wetlands and floodplains, is subject to permitting requirements under the Conservation Authorities Act and Ontario Regulation 41/24. Once a complete and approved site plan has been submitted and the required permit applications are received, Kawartha Conservation will review the proposal in detail and address any applicable permit conditions at that stage.
