ERO # 019-8016 - Amendments to the Endangered Species Act
Members of our nature club want to see species at risk well-protected. The proposed changes to regulations would lessen protections for species and give more leeway for developers to destroy endangered species and their vital habitats.
We do see some heathy butternut trees in Niagara and we do not want to lose these trees and the habitats where they can exist.
Exemptions to protecting species and few efforts to ensure compliance with the regulations along with the lack of a system to track cumulative impacts will threaten the biodiversity of Ontario.
