Amendments to the ESA CANNOT be continued!!! At the start of the Act in 2007, we were celebrated for having such an encompassing and strong policy to protect the natural areas, flora and fauna that make up our home.
The continuing amendments only WEAKEN what we were applauded for. Without these areas and the species that call it home, how can we even begin to identify ourselves as Canadians? So much of what we value and what we are known for is ingrained in the relationships we have with our wild areas.
I DO NOT think these amendments are necessary. If in the name of building - we already know that we have the ability to grow exponentially UP, instead of OUT.
In the face of a climate emergency, I am absolutely disappointed our governments would even suggest moving backwards. We need to be working TOGETHER and moving FORWARD. Bring back the original act.
