The 30-day waiting period prior to the registration and removal of Butternut should remain. If this waiting period is taken away there will no longer be a potential audit to confirm conclusions of the Butternut Health Assessment report.
The fact that one does not need to take an accredited course to become a Butternut Health Assessor further solidifies the need for some accountability that would come from a potential audit. Either from ignorance or maliciousness Butternuts could be categorized improperly. At best there may be photos to look at, at worst the report may be lacking information and once the trees are removed there will be nothing to go by.
The deletion of the 30-day waiting period also takes away the opportunity to archive any category 3 trees that are to be removed. This hinders the Butternut population in the wake of development.
Please be responsible, keep the 30-day waiting period so that there is accountability for the Butternuts.
