You need to extend the public comment period to allow everyone time to review this and provide comments.

I do not have confidence that this legislation to relax regulation around trapping will benefit people or wildlife or the environment. Nor do I think it follows the position that the vast majority of residents have: putting the welfare of wildlife and our environment as top priorities.

You say that wildlife will not be harmed and will not suffer, well, you need to provide up to date environmental assessments, and current, peer reviewed science in support of that claim. For example, beavers are a keystone species! They support biodiversity! They support ecological health, and regulate our water systems! For the greater good, your policies need to protect their habitats on Crown and private lands from trapping.

Transparent reporting backed by factual data, and strict oversight are imperative to keep trapping practices in compliance with the standards our current society demands. Wildlife protection, ecological health, and public support thereof should be the top priorities you have, in terms of your decisions around regulation of trapping.
