The provincial government should extend the public's feedback period to allow all person concerned about this matter sufficient time to review and analyze the data. Furthermore it should be mandatory that the government provide scientific documentation, environmental impact assessments and cite its reference material to support its claim.
Animal welfare and cruelty free trapping methods should take priority and be in compliance with PAWS legislation. Protection from pain and suffering should be paramount and encompass all animals not just domestic companion animals.

Small financial gains for the fur trade should never come at the expense of animal protection, public safety, or ecological health. Money can be made or lost, but we cannot restore ecological health and habitat.
Beavers are keystone species that create wetlands, support biodiversity, and regulate water systems. The presence of beavers indicates a healthy ecological environment. Crown and private lands should be safeguarded with appropriate policies, legislation and procedure to prevent increased or indiscriminate trapping, especially during the closed season. Stiffer penalties are needed to ensure compliance.
Appropriate and immediate action must be taken to ensure policies and procedures are in place to ensure that trappers are in compliance with the required standards.
