Hello, I am concerned about the regulatory changes being made to the protections of the Redside Dace. It is unclear to me what advantage shortening the timeframe within the definition of 'occupied habitat' would have on protections for the dace. If anything, shortening the timeframe would effectively shrink the habitat within which the Redside Dace was said to have lived, and therefore reduce the amount of protected habitat. It would also decrease the number of areas where re-conservation efforts would be able to occur, as they would have to happen adjacent to 'occupied habitat'. I think the definition of 'occupied habitat' should be expanded to include all areas within which the Redside Dace historically was present. That really makes more logical sense. Shrinking the protected habitat with the current proposal in my mind only helps developers and the Hwy 413 proposal go ahead, as there is less habitat said to contain endangered species, even if that habitat did indeed contain these species before becoming damaged.
