York1 Nugget Transfer Ltd. - Environmental Compliance Approval (sewage)

This application is for an Environmental Compliance Approval (sewage works) for a waste disposal site for the YORK1 Nugget Transfer facility at 300 Nugget Avenue in Toronto, Ontario (Site).

The Site is used for the processing and transfer of the following types of waste: non-hazardous solid waste generated within the residential, industrial, institutional and commercial sectors, received either as source-separated waste or mixed waste, and includes construction and demolition waste, source separated recyclable material that has been collected from residential blue box programs, soil, and rock.

Industrial sewage works serving the Site contain the following components:

• three manholes and sept catch basins
• stormwater sewers connected to a municipal storm sewage system
• a stormwater holding tank
• an oil-water separator.

The proposed site work includes:

• the addition of underground quantity control volume
• an additional oil / grit separator

The main change affecting the site’s stormwater management is a small increase in drainage area at the northwest boundary.
