As a long standing P.Geo. member in Ontario (2011) and a geoscientist since 2002 I am in full support of these changes as a method to show support for mineral development sector. This a massive step forward for the mining sector while still providing safe guards.

I am in STRONG opposition to the proposed amendments under ERO 025-1363. Water protection is not an administrative hurdle. It is a vital safeguard that keeps water, ecosystems, and communities safe. STOP this trend of removing environmental protections disguised as efficiency.

I am oppose to the Ontario government's proposal to exempt early mineral exploration from the Permit to Take Water (PTTW) system. It is on of the few remaining tools left to assess whether large water withdrawals are appropriate.

The intent behind this proposal to modernize approvals, reduce duplication, and support timely mineral development is reasonable and widely shared. Ontario’s current system can be fragmented and inefficient, creating delays and uncertainty for proponents, communities, and First Nations alike.

I profoundly disagree with this notice's definition of low risk activities. This proposal follows a recent trend by the government weakening water protections like 025-0416. Mining process that user water always create a risk of contamination.

Please do not reduce protections on the environment when it comes to mining. These protections against taking too much water to help with mining is for good reason. Water can run dry, and also get very polluted from the mining.
