The Ford government has a history of slashing environmental protections and oversight. This is the first proposal I've read that seems like the environment is being considered in a good way. Can I trust this though given the Ford government's history and Bill 5? Will Bill 5 apply here regardless of the environmental good mentioned in this proposal? I don't know how to trust this government right now.

I ask that environmental protections are upheld through all projects that would be subject to this proposal. We only have one planet, which sustains us all. It should not be economy vs the environment. Environmental processes can be worked into everything, and that will save us money, protect our health, and protect all the biodiversity that provides us with so many services (not to mention that the biodiversity has intrinsic value and deserves to exist). Environmental assessments exist for a reason - to understand a project's impacts so they can be mitigated; they're a way to do a project right from the beginning.
