It is well-documented that the traps used in Canada are inhumane and cause immense suffering for wild animals. These animals’ lives are cruelly taken because their pelts have value in the commercial fur trade.
The changes being proposed are a backward step in the struggle for resisting exploitation of animals. Ontario could be a leader in this movement, but education is needed, not just for lawmakers, but also for consumers of products made with fur or products from wildlife.
