These changes while seeming small are a welcome change to the challenges faced by trappers and the fur industry as a whole. Please keep eliminating unnecessary burdens on an industry already in decline. Read more

As a licensed trapper, I’m encouraged by the recent proposed regulatory changes. Simplifying reporting periods and officially permitting the sale of beaver castor are both bold, practical moves that acknowledge our role in wildlife management. Read more

There are absolutely no economic benefits for wildlife products anymore. No one wants pelts. And most people would think that beaver butt fluids are disgusting and won’t want it in their food. All beaver trapping is “pest” control. Read more

I am very excited about these proposed changes. They are much needed and will enable the trapping community/fur traders to be able to do their jobs much more effectively. Looking forward to following and wish for a positive outcome for these proposals

1. In my opinion, Laws should not cause the unnecessary wasting of legally harvested animals. Any modifications that allow licensed trappers or licensed fur dealers to sell and market raw castoreum or any other "raw parts" to markets would be welcome changes. Read more

I am one hundred percent behind these changes that will support our trappers. It is about time that we start supporting these trappers and the job they do in managing fur bearer populations for the rest of us.

I agree with the proposed changes. -Castoreum should be harvested and sold. This allows more income for the trappers and fur dealers while making use of a byproduct that would be wasted otherwise. Read more

It is well-documented that the traps used in Canada are inhumane and cause immense suffering for wild animals. These animals’ lives are cruelly taken because their pelts have value in the commercial fur trade. Read more
