I am deeply troubled by proposed changes to the regulation of the trapping trade in Ontario. I have had to make multiple calls to the MNR with regard to animals - including species at risk - being trapped in the off-season near our property. The "reduction of administrative burden" for trappers will clearly be a tragedy for fur-bearers in Ontario, many of whom are essential in maintaining the health of our lakes and rivers. Some of these species are already struggling with climate change. Further, no scientific data has been brought forward to address the actions within the proposal - which is unacceptable in this time when the natural situation is changing for all species. I vehemently oppose these proposed changes.
