I strongly oppose changing regulations of trapping beavers. Especially on Crown land. This is not conservation, but a way of sacrificing wildlife for profit. Castoreum oil can easily be replaced by plant feedstocks and without upsetting the sensitive ecosystem that needs beavers for healthy forests.
The proposal puts serious stress on Beaver populations since it removes the closed season and the reporting requirements for trapping.
Strong reporting and regulatory oversight are essential to ensure that trapping practices comply with required standards.
