I am opposed to any regulation changes that do not have strong peer reviewed scientific studies behind them. What are the scientific reviews that show that this is good for the environment and for the welfare of wildlife, which should be a priority? Strong regulations ensure that trappers comply with current standards. My fear is that if we degrade our policies, we will no longer be able to safeguard habitats on Crown and private lands from increased or indiscriminate trapping, especially during the closed season.
