The, Ontario, government wants to “streamline rules”, and, “reduce administrative, burdens” for trappers and, fur dealers – but, the reality is they will have, serious, consequences for, animal, welfare, environmental, protection, and, transparency!
The changes, primarily, focus on allowing the sale of, raw, beaver, castoreum by, fur, dealers, permitting the trapping of beavers, on, Crown, land, during the, closed, season, reducing, reporting, requirements for, licensed, fur, dealers, and, expanding methods for killing, trapped, fur-bearing, mammals, including using pistols after dark! We, along with our colleagues, at "AEL Advocacy", are saying NO to these, unconscionable, trapping changes!
With, international, fashion, weeks showcasing, new, trends and, styles, this month, we wanted to get into what it means to be compassionate, and, go fur-free!
The "Government of Prince Edward Island" has announced updates to their commercial, and, recreational, trapping, regulations, including a prohibition on snares on, public, lands! The, big, takeaways, from the announcement, include that snares will be prohibited on, public, lands, and, allowing homeowners to, legally, remove traps placed on their property, without permission. We support this prohibition.
