Beavers are such an integral, vital, part of the environment and ecosystems of our rivers and lakes, land. During the latest wildfires I learned the importance of beavers in helping forests and fire prevention. It’s incredible. I vehemently OPPOSE giving the powers to trappers and hunters to:
- Allow the sale of castoreum
- eliminate mandatory reporting. 🤯
- using pistols after dark? What could possibly go wrong???
- trapping after closed season. Why have a season at all?
The regulations in place now are there to prevent “Wild West” behaviour. Accountability is ESSENTIAL in hunting. Are we trying to eliminate the beaver population? I fail to see the need for these new proposals. Humane killing is essential and reporting needs to continue.
I say NO to the Ont Trapping Reg Changes proposed.
