The environment and any species in that environment must be protected by law and not by a politicians' discretion. Any decisions made must be transparent to the people of Ontario so that they can hold the decision-makers to account using the law. The people of Ontario should not be asked to "just trust" the politicians. The Greenbelt fiasco has already shown that the government cannot be trusted to protect the land, water, and species that live there.
