The Nation Municipality appreciates the opportunity to comment on the proposed criteria for Special Economic Zones (SEZs). The Municipality supports the regulation in principle and recommends that municipally led innovation and industrial parks be explicitly eligible for SEZ designation.
The Nation’s proposed pilot site, the Innovation Park near Limoges, is strategically located along the Highway 417 corridor and has established infrastructure with strong expansion potential. The attached submission provides detailed comments on municipal consultation, transparency, Indigenous engagement (with EORN support for Duty-to-Consult activities), and environmental safeguards.
