My concern is the sweeping powers Bill 5 gives the Ontario Government to override environmental protections, exempt hand-picked companies from laws, and sideline Indigenous voices within "Special Economic Zones". I am deeply concerned about transparency and accountability and environmental protection. SEZs can be declared anywhere, which means our provincial parks and conservation areas are in danger. The Minister can arbitrarily select "trusted proponents". The government should not have this much discretionary power. This is fascism. The risks to our environment are too great. Bill 5 will leave Ontario's air, land and water at the mercy of political discretion, not the law. The Ontario government must strengthen, not weaken Ontario's environmental safeguards. You must repeal Bill 5 immediately.
