By making municipal road projects and other types of private infrastructure exempt from the EA process, it could result in significant impacts to the natural environment throughout the province and essentially leads to unregulated development. Having a comprehensive EA process for municipal projects is critical for the protection of the environment, sustainable development, and to allow the public and stakeholders to have a platform to voice their concerns and opinions about infrastructure projects.
