The American Eel is a incredible fish species that has suffered near complete collapse of its populations in Canada. After reviewing the government response statement, I don't feel this government is doing enough or taking timely action. We need immediate action on this file to save this species. We need greater collaboration across borders (with Quebec and with Hydro Quebec) and I would like to see a focus on immediate action at the Carillon dam site to help improve fish passage at this point along the eels' migratory route.
This governments needs to do more, and far sooner. Let's save the eels!
