Removing the environmental assessment requirements would be near-sighted and blissfully ignorant. Ontario has environmental controls in the first place for protection of beneficial ecosystems and preservation of the beauty in this province. Communities are heavily affected by the quality of environmental health and throwing these requirements aside to pave more parking lots and build more roads would ultimately be a detriment to all. The only beneficiaries would be the contractors and builders making money to throw down some asphalt with reckless abandon.
