I am strongly against Doug Ford's proposal to "streamline" municipal environmental assessment regulations. As someone with a background in archaeology, and as an Ontarian, this proposal simply aims to destroy the cultural history of the province only for the benefit of developers by way of lining their pockets. I am appalled at the lack of care and respect Ford's government has towards our First Nations and their cultural heritage, and should this go into effect, it will do irreperable damage to the archaeological record and our efforts to preserve it. We only have one chance at the preservation of archaeological material, and any damage that this proposal causes cannot be undone.
