The proposed changes are nothing more than an attempt to appease the private developers who seek higher profits. Not only does this not address the real cause of housing scarcity, but more importantly will only create issues in the near future. Locations outside the Greenbelt also have a role in the larger Canadian ecosystem, and without environmental assessments developers put that ecosystem at unnecessary risk. Reconciliation may not be a priority for the current Provincial government, however this new policy will ensure that any future government that does focus on the issue will face significant problems. Any cultural heritage that can be saved and preserved will only be destroyed during development under the proposed regulations, destroying any good will between settler and Indigenous communities in the process. These proposed changes only reflect the corrupt nature of the current government, as the profits of today's campaign financiers are held in higher regard to the wellbeing of tomorrow's constituents.

The current regulations were put into place after careful consideration over a number of years. The proposed changes have been deliberated over a small fraction of that time, with about a similar fraction of care.
