The proposed legislation will only make it easier for municipalities to write off areas of archaeological potential (and which some have already been doing), including pre and post contact settlement and burial sites, undermining the work of the archaeological profession and destroying valuable heritage resources, both First Nations and immigrant Euro-Canadian.
