This proposal is clearly an attempt to clear the way for corporate interests to make money while disregarding the environment, heritage, and Treaty obligations of Ontario. The environmental impact of this proposal will be dire, as will the impact on the archaeological heritage of the province. This is without even considering the violations of the province's Treaty obligations. The proposal uses words like "streamlined" to imply that they are an improvement, whereas it is pretty clear that the "streamlining" process simply involves abnegating responsibility for the potential impacts of construction projects. Insisting that the changes are "sensible and practical" does not make them so; indeed, the fact that it needs to be mentioned does somewhat indicate that they are not.
