This proposal sounds like a great way to save time and money, HOWEVER if the Indigenous community does not approve of it, then it should not proceed!
The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks has an obligation to do what is right and NOT what is easier for the municipal and housing sector. Yes, saving time and money is sensible, of course, but not if it means bypassing the process of an archaeological analysis of the project land.
DO what is right! Consult with the Indigenous community, address their concerns and understand the impact these amendments will have on their community and our history!
