Premier, Minister and Ministry Staff,
Please do not pass this proposal to streamline Municipal EA's for higher-risk projects. The introduction speaks for itself - these are high-risk projects that need proper oversight - not less.
It is wrong for the province to be risking public health, environmental health and the protection of our cultural heritage by removing proven, long-established environmental assessment processes.
We need our government looking out for the greater public good and not simply facilitating things for developers at any cost. This includes our municipalities, regional governments, and the province.
We need more oversight, collaboration and better planning in this era of global climate change. Our municipal infrastructure needs to be more resilient and better planned than ever. Eliminating Environmental Assessments to rush projects is not likely to have good long-term outcomes.
I urge the government to reject this absurd proposal that is so against the greater public good and ensure that we have the best possible planning and infrastructure - not the cheapest or most expedient.
Thank you.
