Thanks for recognizing need for tweaks to Bill 5, but this proposal will prove less than effective at requiring confirmation of Indigenous rights holders' full involvement and informed consent.This is primary to successful accomplishment of any resource development scenarios. Related, but also not effective are the protections from health and environmental risks.(require monitoring of same and transparency of these reports etc)
Again leaning into the "Trusted Proponents" lacks evaluation and disclosure of their records for environmental compliance and financial and managerial viability.
The projects approved expeditiously without these safeguards/guardrails, opens the Province to stalled and failed developments with potentially catastrophic environmental and human health impacts.
Move quickly but carefully and skillfully.
