In view of what is being proposed, the Ontario government should, through its due diligence and accountability to its constituents, provide more reasonable time for the public to read, research and respond. An extended response period is warranted to facilitate stakeholder inclusion in this process.
While the fur trade may contribute to the economy, this should not supercede animal welfare and humane practices in trapping, nor be without consideration for the health and longevity of environmental and ecological systems. Regulatory policies and practices must be observed and monitored with consequences for industries and individuals who compromise legislation.
