I would like to express my extreme opposition to the proposed changes in regard to trapping regulations in Ontario.
1) This is an expansion of trapping which causes tremendous suffering of both target and non-target species and weakens protection for fur-bearing animals, protections that the public wants.
2)These changes are a threat to Ontario's ecosystems because beaver are a keystone species whose dams promote biodiversity, regulate water flow and improve water quality.
Ontario's wildlife and the environment is under threat like never before because of climate change and the expansion of suburbia. It is totally wrong to increase this threat.
