I am concerned about the proposed changes to the environmental assessment process for municipal projects eg. a large wastewater treatment plant. Streamlining the assessment for a project such as this could result in oversights that could result in risks to the health of communities and water sources in the vicinity of the treatment plant. In this time of a climate crisis it is imperative that all building projects be thoroughly assessed for their possible negative impacts on the environment especially water sources.

I am also concerned about the plan to allow expropriation of properties before environmental assessments are completed. This could result in municipalities owning properties that cannot be used if they do not pass the environmental assessment. The whole issue of expropriating properties for development is concerning at a time when we need to be focused on preserving agricultural land and natural areas for the long term health of our province.
