I'm concerned this change…

I'm concerned this change will not provide sufficient protection for archaeological heritage and ancestor burials, nor will it result in proper consultation with First Nations on development projects.

These regulations are integral in meeting the Ontario Heritage Act obligations and ensuring municipalities do their due diligence to both known and unknown archaeological sites and First Nations people.

I stand with the Ontario Archaeological Society and the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation who have both raised concerns on this proposed change in regulation.
