I am immensely disappointed in the proposed changes that would remove protections for at-risk and endangered species in this legislation, specifically those located along the proposed route of Highway 413. Read more

It seems apparent that the Ford government is intent on removing protections for species at risk in order to advance its own aims and infrastructure projects. I strongly disagree with this approach. Read more

This is insane. Removing protections for an endangered species so you can get a highway built? I do not support these changes which are clearly drawn up with zero consideration for the health and future of our planet. Disgusting.

I do not support these amendments. They are detrimental to the species in question and to the people of Ontario at large who will suffer in the long term for this loss of biodiversity. Read more

Please do not amend O. Reg. 830/21 to eliminate the 30-day waiting period between the submission of a Butternut Health Expert Report and registration of an eligible activity. I support the waiting period as serving an essential purpose to give experts the time to assess butternut trees. Read more

Any such project that puts species at risk is not one that should be started. Implementing new highway infrastructure when existing highways are not being used effectively is faulty logic and a failing of fiscal responsibility. Read more

Further weakening environmental protections of 11 species at risk, including the redside dace, in order to build yet another road to further encourage single occupancy vehicles is short-sighted, negligent, and dangerous. Read more

It is clear that these changes are meant to make it easier for the province to cherrypick what habitats and populations are protected based on where development projects are located. Projects like the Highway 413 would destroy wetlands, home to numerous endangered or threatened species. Read more

This is a ridiculous proposal. As per usual, the Ford government wants to deteriorate our landscape and decimate our wildlife for the benefit of a wealthy men. This does not ensure the long term well being of Ontario, and is strictly driven by greed.

I am disappointed and very concerned that allowing for mining exploration trails is being proposed. These types of activities cause irreversible harm to habitat and though considered minor, they can still have negative effects on areas by disturbing sensitive flora and displacing local fauna. The proposed regulation change, which effectively reduces the extent and duration of protected habitat, is contrary to the goal of the Ontario Government Response Statement to the Redside Dace Recovery Strategy. Read more
