Beaver populations are under increasing pressure due to loss of habitat to development and agriculture in Ontario. This proposal encourages increased harvest pressure by broadening both the participation in and the market for trapped beaver products. Lire davantage

We nearly lost a dog in a trap near our farm. We saw first hand the horrible pain and fear caused by the trap. There is very little to be gained financially from trapping and a terrible price to be paid in wild and even pet animal suffering. Also trapping beavers is rediculous! Lire davantage

I am in support of all 4 parts to this ERO Notice 025-0781 Proposals to Reduce Regulatory and Administrative Burden on Licensed Trappers and Fur Dealers. The paperwork for Fur Dealers is not user friendly in it's present form. Trappers need every opportunity to sell all goods in today's world. Lire davantage

The proposal to reduce regulatory and administrative burden for licenced trappers and fur dealers is ill-advised. Strong reporting and regulatory oversight are essential to ensure that trapping practices comply with required standards. Lire davantage

It is unbelievable that the Ontario Government is considering changes regarding trapping regulations, particularly the impact these changes would have on beavers. Lire davantage

DO NOT TRAP BEAVERS! Beavers are keystone species that create wetlands, support biodiversity, and regulate water systems. Policies should safeguard habitats on Crown and private lands from increased or indiscriminate trapping, especially during the closed season.

As someone who cares about animal welfare, I disagree with the lessening of regulations towards the trapping of fur bearing animals. Please don’t do this!

Once again, the Ontario government has provided an unrealistic time-frame to comment on regulatory changes. In this case, the province is proposing new rules to make it easier to trap wildlife, like beavers, a keystone species that develops and maintains wetlands. Lire davantage

I am once again dismayed by the lack of evidence of an environmental assessment, the illusion that leg hold traps continue to be considered humane, and the continuing erosion by this government of what it defines as humane (e.g. Lire davantage

I stand firmly against this proposal. Humans have already once created a near extinction of beavers for money and profit and with this proposal the same could happen. This is about profit and money. Lire davantage

Reducing regulatory and administrative burden?? Are you kidding me? With the concern that your MNRF has about enforcing log books being up to date for volunteer rehabbers and the MNRF taking rehabbers to court you are wanting to reduce this for licensed trappers and fur dealers. Lire davantage

I strongly oppose to, and disagree with, the proposed changes to trapping regulations that would expand economic opportunities for licensed trappers and fur dealers. There are no scientific evidence, environmental impact assessments, and data to support the claims mentioned in the proposed changes. Lire davantage

In this day and age trapping needs to end rather than increase. It is an archaic and brutal treatment of innocent wildlife. I oppose any increases to trapping and hunting for anything other than sustenance.

Beavers are such an integral, vital, part of the environment and ecosystems of our rivers and lakes, land. During the latest wildfires I learned the importance of beavers in helping forests and fire prevention. It’s incredible. I vehemently OPPOSE giving the powers to trappers and hunters to: Lire davantage
