The guidelines are too vague. The guidelines will allow cabinet to approve anything it deems important. Key issues include:
- Determinations can be made based on the "opinion of the Minister" which allows too much power by the Minister and undermines the purpose of developing criteria.

I have several grave concerns regarding the Proposed Special Economic Zones. While I recognize that Ontario needs to continue building a strong economy, this act attempts to do so at great cost to future Ontarians by failing to protect their right to a safe environment.

The government has not shown itself to be trustworthy to handle such powers safely, fairly and transparently, nor to adequately value our children's natural, environmental heritage.
The Town of Collingwood appreciates the opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed regulatory framework for Special Economic Zones (SEZs) under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2025. We recognize the potential of SEZs to accelerate strategic economic development and investment across Ontario.
