I am supportive of this proposal. Thank you for taking time to consider approaches that help to simplify business processes for trappers and fur dealers. I recognize we are not big businesses in Ontario, but every little bit helps. Thank you.

Trapping is inhumane, indiscriminate, and an archaic, horrific practice that needs to become part of Canada’s history, not its present or future. Small financial gains for the fur trade should never come at the expense of animal protection, public safety, or ecological health. Read more

These new proposed rules weaken any oversight and protection of wildlife being trapped. There should be stricter rules rather than weakening the current regulations. Read more

I support this change. It is time we renewed the trapping regulations and opened it up to be less restrictive. This will help new trappers who would like to get into trapping as well

I adamantly oppose your proposed changes. You are completely going in the wrong direction. If you are just looking at resource the vast majority of people agree that nature is something to value and enjoy, animals are more important alive then dead. Read more

Legislation governing trapping must prioritize animal welfare and be guided by current, peer-reviewed scientific research. The marginal economic benefits derived from the fur trade cannot be permitted to override concerns relating to animal protection, public safety, or ecological sustainability. Read more

I am deeply troubled by proposed changes to the regulation of the trapping trade in Ontario. I have had to make multiple calls to the MNR with regard to animals - including species at risk - being trapped in the off-season near our property. Read more

Beavers are keystone species that create wetlands, support biodiversity, and regulate water systems. Policies should safeguard habitats on Crown and private lands from increased or indiscriminate trapping, especially during the closed season. There is no justification for this cruelty. Read more

I join the Fur-Bearers and AEL Advocacy to strongly oppose beaver trapping proposals. I urge the Environmental Registry of Ontario (ERO) to ban trapping. It is outdated, cruel and unnecessary.
