The government must provide full scientific documentation, environmental impact assessments, and data to support its claims. It should also consider extending the public comment period to allow stakeholders time to review this information and provide informed feedback. Read more

Beavers are an integral part of our ecosystem. As a biologist and veterinarian I am strongly opposed to these changes in regulations that allow more beavers to be killed. Read more

This is a step backwards. The government must provide full scientific documentation, environmental impact assessments, and data to support its claims. It should also consider extending the public comment period to allow stakeholders time to review this information and provide informed feedback. Read more

I strongly oppose the Ministry’s proposal to reduce oversight and expand opportunities for trappers and fur dealers. Ontario should be moving away from commercialized trapping, not making it easier. 1. Cruelty disguised as “burden reduction” Read more

The government has a duty to ensure transparency by providing full scientific documentation, environmental impact assessments, and supporting data for any claims it makes. Without this, meaningful public engagement is not possible. Read more

I am gravely concerned regarding current and planned policies related to trapping and wildlife management. These issues demand a transparent, science-based approach that reflects our collective responsibility to protect both ecological systems and animal welfare. Read more

Release the study showing that these changes are supported by science. Beavers are wildly important to our ecosystems - I oppose any changes to regulations that are not supported by science. Small financial gains for a small number of people shouldn't be a reason to risk animal welfare. Read more

Absolutely not! We have already encroached on the wildlife habitat. On the trails where I used to enjoy watching beavers raise their families, they have disappeared. I’m not seeing any song of them- gone are the gnawed trees and their dams are abandoned. Please don’t make it worse…

I am in favour of all four of the proposed changes to ERO 025-0781. In particular, the reporting burden for Licensed Fur Dealers is tedious and not user friendly. Many, many frustrating hours are spent reporting considering detailed records are kept for all fur purchased. Read more

The worry I have with loosening the already ‘loose’ record keeping kept on beaver Castoreum is that it will make it much easier to dispatch beaver illegally just for the Castoreum. Read more

I want to address the ongoing support for hunting and trapping in Canada, particularly in Ontario. While these practices hold historical significance for some, they no longer serve a practical purpose for the majority of Canadians. Read more

I oppose the proposed changes to Ontario trapping regulations. These changes have been developed without any scientific documentation regarding the impact to the environment and the animals that are affected. Read more

There is nothing "humane" about trapping animals. Animals suffer, as well as animals not intended to trap. The suffering is unbelievable. Please DO NOT reduce regulatory & admin burdens and expand. I do not agree with this at all. Read more

Mandatory reporting to the ministry, at least yearly, is essential and should not be discarded. This is required for proper oversight, and without them, accountability and compliance will weaken. Read more

I don't agree with the easing of any of the regulations surrounding trapping or fur-farming. Both of these activities add very little to the economy in Ontario and will only lead to damage and destruction of our already fragile ecosystems if allowed to expand or are not monitored properly. Read more
