It does NOT make sense for Special Economic Zones to be declared with proper public consultation, open competition. Proper environmental and health impact is a must. Honoring Indigenous rights, treaties, and consultation is a must as well. Lire davantage

The Government of Ontario under Doug Ford has a disastrous record on the environment. Now they are doubling down on that record and overriding Indigenous rights with this Bill. Lire davantage

Bill 5 shows a regressive mindset where big government throws it's weight around and disregards reconciliation gains made through engaging respectfully with First Nations. Honour the treaties! Respect the democratic process. Reject Bill 5.

We need more public consultation on projects, not less; more consideration of environmental impact, not less; more examination of private interests being favoured. Lire davantage

While I respect the need to take action to improve the Canadian economy and lessen our reliance on the US, we cannot let fear override careful thought. This proposal is too broad. Meaningful consultation and consensus must be reached with indigenous people. Lire davantage

The Special Economic Zones Act, 2025 (Bill 5) gives the Ontario government too many powers to override necessary environmental protections, exempt hand-picked companies from laws, and sideline Indigenous voices within “Special Economic Zones” (SEZs) — in the name of “economic growth”. I have truly lost faith in the governments decision to decide what is the right thing to do and the main reasoning behind this is the reckless spending that ford has done. Rather than someone who spends money on investors we need someone who spends money on community building. Lire davantage

Once again the Ford government is putting profit and business interests ahead of people and the environment. What part of ‘the planet is in danger’ do they not understand? Lire davantage

I think it is unlawful to allow corporate business take over of precious environmental lands inhabited by native peoples without recognizing the lasting benefits the land has served to its inhabitants.

I am very concerned about Bill 5, the Special Economic Zones Act which gives the Ontario government the power to override environmental protections, exempt hand picked companies from laws and ignore Indigenous voices within these 'Special Economic Zones' in the name of economic growth. The Doug Ford government has proved time and time again that they act in the interests of their Tory friends, and not in the interest of Ontarians. This is just another avenue for them to give our resources to their friends. Lire davantage

These SEZ's give Cabinet power to override environmental protections, exempt hand picked companies from laws passed by the duly elected government of Ontario without review or consent as they are only required to consider health & environmental risks & it silences Indigenous voices, those most like Lire davantage

I continue to be disappointed in Ford and his government. There is no appreciation for anything except money generally found through the use of increased power. The following are not my words but they do reflect how I see the 'Special Economic Zones'. Lire davantage
